Reading Wasta

You can read our published stories without creating an account. We do not use advertising trackers.

Newsletter signup

When you subscribe, Wasta stores your email address and signup date to manage your newsletter subscription. Only the editor can access this list. We use your email for Wasta updates, and do not sell it.

Leaving the list

You can leave the list using the personal unsubscribe link included with newsletter messages. You can also ask Wasta’s editor to remove your email address. Subscriber exports include the unsubscribe links for use in email messages.

Editor access

The newsroom uses a password-protected editor account and a secure session cookie. Reader pages do not require an account.

Amman Guide

Saved places stay in this browser’s local storage. They are not linked to an account or sent to Wasta. The map requests tiles and fonts from OpenFreeMap, which receives standard connection information such as your IP address. Directions and venue links open external services.

Storage

Wasta uses Vercel to host the website and images, and Neon to store articles and subscriber records. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe or ask the editor to delete them.
